You know the drill. A few looks that I liked or caught my eye. Fewer and fewer as the years go on. Also, I'm almost a week late on posting. Apparently, that's also part of the drill.

Now, this one is definitely inventive. I love the shade of red, a deep red with a blue-undertone. The creativity, I'm liking. But I'm also wondering where she was seated and who was sitting behind her and did they complain?

Summer Walker

Yet another "please don't sit in front of me" headpiece. Fun, but really... wouldn't want to get stuck behind her.

Mimy Succar

I like the fabric of this one. Not my choice of color. But I think it looks nice on her.

Seriously, there were just SO FEW looks that I liked from the Grammy's...

Loving the beadwork on this one.

Jessica Ledon and David Guetta

Clearly I'm liking the long flowy ones covering more skin. I feel like the majority of dresses consisted of maybe one yard of lace. This one looks lovely.

Lupita Infante

I love the embroidery on this one. Don't love the bodice of the dress so much. But the embroidery is really lovely.

Aaaannnnd. That's it. And that felt like pulling teeth. I guess I'm getting old, were I just don't like the looks anymore. And I certainly don't even know the people. Like, at all. Except a handful. As in, less than 5.

Red Carpet: 2024 Golden Globe Awards

Watching awards shows is no longer really interesting to me. But looking at the red carpet photos the next day still is.

Ali Wong in Dior Couture

Ali Wong looked simultaneously quirky and elegant. I love the look. And she is quite talented AND a fellow native San Franciscan.

Hailee Steinfeld in Prada

So, as is increasingly the norm, I have no idea who Hailee Steinfeld is. But her look was reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" outfit, only pink. I like it. Only, I think I would have passed on the transparent black gloves. Maybe white? Or pink.

Oprah Winfrey in Louis Vuitton

Oprah has been donning so many purple gowns and outfits on her Instagram page in celebration of her newly produced remake of "The Color Purple." So fun. She's stunning.

Issa Rae in Pamella Roland

Speaking of stunning. Issa Rae. She's just beautiful. And captivating, really. Her makeup artist is a friend of mine from high school, which is a fun connection. I just think Issa glows.

Natalie Portman in Dior

Natalie just looks like a French impressionist garden painting. Different, but it works for me.

Charlotte Stoudt

This dress is simultaneously simple and flashy. And I like it.

Aaaand. That's it. Since the Golden Globes were over a month ago now, I guess I should post this. What's the next red carpet event to watch?

The 2023 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Review (the post in which I realize that I may be getting old)

The Grammy's red carpet was a little disappointing. There weren't many looks that I liked, but here are a few. And I guess I'm just getting old because I seriously knew maybe 20% of the people. Granted they are primarily musicians and I don't watch music videos, so I don't recognize their faces. Maybe I would recognize some voices (or not)?! But for the most part, I had NO idea who most of the people were. Even by name.

Kacey Musgraves's feathery pink number is lovely, actually. Not sure I would pick it myself, but it looks nice. Although, I just saw another photo and the underdress is not a dress, it's a bodysuit. Not my thing.

I love the midnight blue and light sparkles of Taylor Swift's outfit. The earrings are a bit much, but definitely fit the look.

Amanda Reifer (once again, I have no idea who she is). Not so much into her outfit, but can we take a moment and stare at that hairdo?! Very cool. Though, I would never want to sit behind her. I wonder how they made it stay standing straight up like that.

Kira Kosarin. Maybe a dress we've even seen before. Definitely a style we've seen. But I like it. Still don't know who she is though.

No men this time around. None of them wowed me. To be honest, not many of the hundreds of pictures I saw wowed me. I must be getting old. Or the fashion is just getting more and more uninteresting to me.

Top Ten Looks from the 80th Golden Globe Awards in 2023

I haven't done one of these posts in nearly four years. So I thought I'd throw it out there. Why not? There were several dresses with elements that I really liked, but just didn't like the overall look. That said, here are a few of the ones I thought worked well. Aaaaand, I think my top ten list has eleven choices. Oh well. Who's counting?

Jennifer Hudson chose a gold mirrored look, which normally I wouldn't think I would like. But I think it works. I like the shoulders and neckline.

Jamie Lee Curtis selected what I imagine was a very comfortable jumpsuit and dressed it up with a lovely black lace cape.

Salma Hayek Pinault chose a dress that is reminiscent of Kate Winslet in the movie Titanic. I don't love the black straps, but other than that it think it's nice.

And lastly, Sharon R. Friedrick chose a simple, elegant gown that I'm sure she could easily wear again and again. Maybe not as fancy shmancy as some of the other red carpet looks, but I quite like it.

My Top Twenty from the 2019 Academy Awards Red Carpet

I fully planned to pick ten favorites from tonight's red carpet at the Oscars, but even after paring down my initial pick, it turns out that I still ended up with twenty. So, in no particular order, here they are.

Adam Lambert made the list tonight because he caught my eye while in the audience. He was certainly decked out to be pretty. And the orchid boutonniere and those cuffs. Great look.

Allison Janney's black gown is classic with a twist. I would have liked it better if the neckline didn't go all the way down to her waist. A deep V neck looks great, but two or three inches higher would have been my preference.

Ashley Graham and her black gown get a vote from me simply because she can successfully walk in that mermaid skirt! Impressive.

As usual, Dame Helen Mirren looks wonderful. This pink gown with shades of coral, fuchsia, pink, and orange was a beautiful choice. And the flow of that skirt! Every little girl's dream of endless twirling.

Billy Porter is fierce in a bespoke Christian Siriano tuxedo gown. I love this surprise look.

David Oyelowo looks sharp in his velvet tux.

Jessica Oyelowo sparkles. And I loved seeing her extremely fair skin. I have extremely fair skin and usually tanned skin is seen as most desirable or beautiful, so seeing her milky white porcelain skin is fantastic!

Elisa Pagliese's gown reminded me of a push-pop. The blocks of color caught my eye and though it's probably not something I would choose for myself, it is fun.

Emma Stone's Louis Vuitton gown is unusual enough that it kept catching my eye.

Fatma Al Remaihi glows in this beautiful navy blue caped beaded gown.

Gemma Chan wowed in this high-neck tiered fuchsia gown by Valentino Couture. The tiers. The floral neck. And... pockets! And fuchsia! She looks great.

While not my favorite evening gown on Glenn Close, this gold caped gown is a good choice. I'm liking the trend of cape-dresses.

Henry Golding in Ralph Lauren. Love the white vest and tie.

Lady Gaga in a bespoke sculptured gown by Alexander McQueen. Take a look at those hips. I guess that's one way to hide or accentuate your hips. And that 128-carat Tiffany diamond necklace!

Marie Kondo is just delightful in this pink gown, reminiscent of a Japanese cherry blossom tree.

Marina de Tavira in another ruffly tiered skirt.

Octavia Spencer looks lovely in this navy blue gown. The sparkles make her look like a beautiful midnight sky.

Stephan James in red velvet. The shape of his bowtie. The red velvet. The sunburst lapel pin. The vest. Sharp with a twist.

Tina Fey in custom Vera Wang. love the brilliant blue.

Trevor Noah, in Salvatore Ferragamo, is simply handsome.
